The BnF is launching an appeal for donations to acquire the extraordinary collection of manuscripts of the writer whose sensitivity to nature resonates with contemporary concerns.

The National Library of France has announced that it wishes to acquire the collection of all of Maurice Genevoix's archives.

This acquisition would extend a work of rediscovery of the former perpetual secretary of the French Academy led by his daughter Sylvie, editor who died in 2012. Julien Larere-Genevoix, who took over, sheds light on the context.

"After the transfer to the Pantheon of the ashes of my grandfather in November 2020, we had made the decision to give the manuscript of

Those of 14

at the BnF.

But it remained to decide the fate of the generality of the Genevoix collection, that is to say the fifty-five manuscripts, its correspondence and its working documents.

For each book, we have a first manuscript, a typescript, corrected proofs and proof.

This makes it possible to reconstruct the entire chain of the writer's work.

This is how we approached the BnF to consider a possible acquisition. ”
