Five people were killed today as a result of a fire in a secret factory of firecrackers in the city of El Carmen, east of the capital, San Salvador.
"The victims were found charred in the fire inside their home in El-Carmen, east of the capital, where they were working on the manufacture of gunpowder," police said, according to AFP.
For his part, a spokesman for the fire brigade explained that the house was used as a secret factory for the production of firecrackers.
El Salvador experiences annual fires in secret factories that produce fire arrows and crackers for sale during the year-end holidays.
