China today launched a new data transmission satellite into orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The Chinese news agency, Xinhua, reported that the "Tianlian 02/2" satellite was launched aboard a "Long March 3B" carrier rocket, with the aim of transmitting data.
This is the 401st mission of the Long March series of carrier missiles.
