The Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK) has set up a task force to quickly help students and teachers who have fled Ukraine.

The task force headed by the former Rhineland-Palatinate State Secretary Hans Beckmann (SPD) should coordinate weekly, if necessary more frequently, as the KMK announced on Friday in Berlin.

Members would be sent to the round from all federal states, and individual questions should also be clarified with the federal government.

"We want to help quickly and identify, coordinate and clarify common issues that affect all countries," said KMK Chairwoman and Schleswig-Holstein Minister of Education Karin Prien (CDU).

In the first session, the group addressed questions about the possible employment of Ukrainian teachers and educators as well as a possible continuation of teaching according to the Ukrainian system, for example through online platforms.

In addition, questions related to the use of digital textbooks and teaching materials were discussed.

Unresolved legal issues should be clarified quickly and uniformly.

The aim of the Minister of Education is to enable children and young people from Ukraine to go to school quickly and easily.
