Russia has called on the UN Security Council to hold a meeting to discuss the provocative practices of Ukrainian extremists in the city of Bucha, Kyiv Province.

"In light of the blatant provocation of Ukrainian extremists in Bucha, Russia has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday afternoon," Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's deputy representative to the United Nations, was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying, stressing that Moscow would expose the falsehood of the allegations of arrogant Ukrainian provocateurs and their Western masters.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry denied accusations that its forces had killed civilians in the city of Bucha, stressing that the Russian forces had completed their withdrawal from the city on March 30, a day after the meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey between the delegations of Moscow and Kiev, and on March 31, Bucha Mayor Anatoly Fedorok confirmed In a recorded statement, the absence of any Russian soldiers in the city, without mentioning any cases of killing residents with hands tied with bullets in the streets.
