Several Brazilian press organizations asked this Friday to clarify the reasons for the knife attack suffered by a TV Globo reporter.
The state agency Agencia Brasil reported that Gabriel Luiz, 28, was stabbed Thursday night by two men near his home in Brasilia, the country's capital.
The journalist underwent surgery and his health condition is serious, according to the report.
Globo issued a statement in which it assured that it "deeply" regretted what happened, and said that it is waiting for the investigations by the Police.
"Globo strongly repudiates all forms of violence and hopes that the case will be clarified as soon as possible," the statement read.
According to that medium, the Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District reported that all agencies are dedicated to capturing the alleged perpetrators.
Nor do they rule out any hypothesis about the motives for the attack.
In a statement, the National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj) asked that the facts be investigated "quickly."
Also that those responsible are identified and punished.

In a tweet, the Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District expressed its sadness at the violence suffered by the journalist and hopes that the case will be investigated "rigorously."
