The club issued an official statement after the severe punishment they received from the association's tribunal.

Maccabi Tel Aviv issued a harsh response tonight (Sunday), after the severe punishment it received from the association's court - a radius game followed by five games in which stands 10-11 in Bloomfield will be closed.

"The punishment imposed today by the disciplinary court on Maccabi Tel Aviv is a punishment that is disproportionate in severity and detached from reality. It seems that the basis for punishment has been built in recent months in prosecutions, appeals, additional hearings and precedents at the expense of Maccabi Tel Aviv only.

It is difficult to ignore the sense of discrimination that surrounds this persecution.

The extreme punishment slips into the next game season while ignoring an unknown public and while severely hurting sportiness.

It is very disappointing to find out (and not for the first time) that in its decision the court chooses not to give a windfall to a club that operates intensely, without fear and prejudice, and its expenses are unprecedented against its rioting fans.

The Maccabi Tel Aviv football club will appeal this decision, at the same time it condemns the extreme behavior of its fans and will use all means at its disposal to eradicate illicit phenomena.
