The Ukrainian military says Russian units are receiving reinforcements on the approaches to Sloviansk as they prepare to resume an offensive toward the eastern city.
In the vicinity of Severodonetsk, the Ukrainian military said that the battles continue and that the Russian forces had "partial success" in storming residential areas in the east of the city.
In a video message on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainians have defended their country for 100 days and "victory will be ours."
With the prospect of a prolonged stalemate in Ukraine, the United States and its allies are focusing on the need for a negotiated settlement to end the war.
