(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 26 - "A humanitarian crisis of epic proportions": this is how the Pakistani government defines the situation in the country by announcing the state of emergency after the monsoon rains and the floods that have caused 937 deaths to date.

There are 343 children among the victims.

Balochistan, cut off from the rest of the country after the collapse of the main railway bridge, and Sindh the two most affected regions.

In the latter, the new Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited, local media reports, to assist in the rescue operations.
