In July, the peak of deaths among the over 80s, probably due to the heat wave that hit Italy.
This was announced by Istat.
In the first 6 months of 2022, 357 thousand deaths were recorded, i.e. 21 thousand fewer than in 2020 and 16 thousand fewer than in 2021, even if 6% more than the 2015-19 average.
In the month of July, however, there was a reversal of the trend: "

It happened in 2015, "a year in which there was a significant increase in the number of deaths due mainly to climatic factors".
