UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Monday night that the Israeli government must retract its decision to advance the construction of thousands of new units in Judea and Samaria through the building approval process.

Guterres said: "This is a blatant violation of international law, it is a disturbing and worrying decision that will increase violence and tensions in the region and deepen and increase the need for humanitarian assistance. Advancing construction in the region is a major obstacle to the realization of the two-state solution."
