Two Ashdod residents in their 30s broke into the Kodesh Kodesh synagogue in Ashdod earlier this month, causing extensive damage, vandalism and vandalism of ritual objects and Torah scrolls. After intensive interrogation, the two were arrested and today (Monday) they were brought to a hearing to extend their detention at the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court.
For several weeks now, the police have been conducting an investigation following several burglaries of synagogues, apartments and vehicles in Ashdod, one of which involved the break-in of the Kodesh Kodesh synagogue in the city. Two suspects were arrested yesterday on suspicion of offenses of insulting religion, burglary and theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The police investigation revealed suspicion of the suspects' involvement in four synagogue break-ins, as well as a "triple" offense in which they broke into a house, stole the car and broke into another vehicle.
Superintendent Keren Toledano, Investigations and Intelligence Officer at the Ashdod Police: "The suspects were not satisfied with the offenses of the outbreak they committed together on several different occasions and in different areas, but added insult to injury by apparently maliciously vandalizing the religious objects, which are of paramount importance to the Jewish people and even more so to the synagogue worshippers. Therefore, we made the case a top priority and worked in cooperation with the regional forensic unit to locate the golden evidence that will lead us to the suspects in order to bring them to justice."
