Minister Meir Porush sent a letter to the Ukrainian court requesting that Rabbi Eliezer Berland be admitted to Uman this Rosh Hashanah.
Rabbi Berland is denied entry to Ukraine because of a sermon he gave to his Hasidim in which he spoke about how Putin is a good man and that Ukraine is being occupied because it made it difficult for Breslov Hasidim to enter Uman on Rosh Hashanah.
This was published on the Shavei Or website, which brought Rabbi Berland's remarks, and it has already been erased, but not before reaching the eyes of senior Ukrainian government officials who sentenced Rabbi Berland: a black visa for three years.
Porush's office did not deny the allegations and said on behalf of a source familiar with the details: "Diplomatic elements are working through various channels to prevent a recurrence of incidents that occurred in past years, and in this context, among other things, they turned to Minister Frosh for assistance in a variety of ways and in different places."
