Where did Sarah and her heart go?The Central District police on Monday detained for questioning the grandmother of the two girls, residents of the United States who came to visit Israel with their mother, also a resident of the United States. It is suspected that the mother, who was supposed to return the daughters, Sarah (12) and Liba (8) Goldschmidt to their father on Friday, kidnapped them.
This is an Israeli family, originally from northern Israel, who immigrated to the United States a decade ago, where the couple had three children: a son and two daughters. A few years ago, the couple divorced and the father, a US citizen, received full custody of the children. The US court allowed the mother to take the two girls on vacation in Israel and imposed various restrictions on her, including that she must return the girls to their father, who arrived in Israel ten days later.

Last week, the eldest girl Sarah wrote to her father that their mother was planning to kidnap them and contact has since been severed. The father was supposed to pick up the girls in Tel Aviv on Friday, but the mother did not show up and did not answer the phones. As a result, the concerned father filed a complaint with the police. The investigation was conducted by the Northern District Police, using technological means, and today, when there was an indication of the involvement of the grandmother, the mother's mother, who lives in Gedera, the investigation file was transferred to the Hilp of the Shfela region. A short time ago, the grandmother was arrested for questioning. She is suspected of aiding and abetting the kidnapping, although she denies knowing the whereabouts of her daughter and granddaughters.
