"Towards the end of Justice A. Hayut's term as President of the Court, I would like to inform you that I am presenting my

This is the first time that a sitting judge has announced candidacy for the position despite the senatorial custom whereby the veteran judge will be appointed Chief Justice. In doing so, Justice Elron challenged veteran judge and candidate Yitzhak Amit.
