The prime minister has declared recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara - but in the map of travel warnings circulated on Thursday, Morocco is still split into 2: Morocco and Western Sahara.

In July, Netanyahu announced Israel's official recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara in a letter to King Mohammed VI, and the latter sent an official invitation to Netanyahu for his first visit to the country.

The announcement of Israel's recognition of Moroccan sovereignty in the province comes after almost three years since relations between the two countries were renewed under the Abraham Accords.
In this context, the United States has recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and the Moroccan consideration for Israel's recognition of Western Sahara is expected to include upgrading the Moroccan representation in Israel to embassy status.
