The Louvre Museum, the most visited in the world, is closed for security reasons related to the terrorism alert that since yesterday has been raised to the highest level in France. According to what was communicated by the management, the closure is due to "verification measures" in relation to the raising of the Vigipirate plan to the level of "emergency attacks" after the attack that caused the death of a professor yesterday in Arras, in the north.
"For security reasons, the Louvre museum closes its doors for today. People who have booked a visit for today will be refunded," the museum said in a statement.
A spokeswoman for the museum, after the announcement of the closure in the middle of the day, then told AFP that "the Louvre has received a written message regarding risks for the museum and its visitors. We chose to evacuate it and close it for the whole day, the time necessary to proceed with the necessary checks".
