A Moldovan-born couple were arrested in France after spray-painting Star of David symbols on the wall of a Paris school. According to a report on Europe 1 radio, the two did so under the auspices of a Russian citizen.
The couple, a 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, were arrested on Friday and have been in custody ever since. The two were apprehended following the testimony of a local resident who saw them during the spraying. During interrogation, they claimed to have been handled by a third person.
About 14 Stars of David were painted throughout Paris' <>th arrondissement over the weekend. The "painters" have not yet been caught.
The Parisian prosecution could not say "whether the purpose of the painting was to insult Jews or mark their homes because the stars were blue and not yellow, in the form of the yellow star."
According to French Interior Minister Gerald Damernin, since October 7, at least 857 antisemitic incidents have been registered in France and at least 425 people have been investigated in connection with antisemitic incidents.
