Assistance and compensation: Tourism Minister Haim Katz's outline of economic assistance to the tourism industry will be discussed today (Tuesday) in the Economy Committee and will be submitted to the Finance Committee for approval as part of the economic plan.

In a discussion held in the Finance Committee last week on compensation to the tourism industry as part of the economic plan to compensate businesses harmed by the war, and following Minister Katz's request to formulate a unique outline for the industry, the Finance Committee authorized the Ministry of Tourism to submit a proposal for compensation that will be approved by the committee.

Asked by Israel Hayom whether the Akirov, Mamilla and David Citadel hotels, which are currently closed, will also be eligible for state assistance despite choosing not to host the evacuees from the northern south, Tourism Minister Haim Katz gave a laconic answer: "Anyone who did not want to participate in the national effort will probably not ask for compensation either."

Two weeks ago, the hotel association approached Alfred Akirov and threatened to expel him from the organization due to his refusal to host the evacuees - at which time Akirov explained that there was a shortage of manpower in his hotels. A week ago, Alrov, a company under his control, filed a request to quit the association and reportedly transferred the amount equivalent to Egon membership fees to the evacuees.
