Lt. Col. Tomer Greenberg, one of the most prominent field commanders in the Iron Sword War, fell Tuesday night in battle in the northern Shejaiya neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip. Greenberg, who lost 41 fighters in the surprise attack on October 7, led the fighting to the heart of terror and received praise from the commander of the 36th Division, Brigadier General Dado Bar Kalifa, and the commander of the command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman.

After his fall, the IDF published its last conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Salman Habeqa, commander of the 53rd Battalion of the 188th Armored Brigade, who fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip earlier this month.
In the conversation, Havka asks Greenberg: "Can I help you with anything, an immediate evacuation? Go," to which the lieutenant colonel replies, "Cover up for me, so that I will have the ability to unload." At the end of the conversation, Tomer said to Salman: "Thank you very much Salman, all POM I rescued you, now you have come to help me."
