IDF representative Brig. Gen. Baruch Spiegel, former commander of the Golani Brigade, eulogized at the funeral: "The soldiers who defended the country in the early days are the ones who saved it. Had it not been for their success and heroism, we would have been in a more difficult situation. These heroes saved the country. I met Moshe and his company two weeks before the war in the Golan Heights. We said that Goni should always be ready because who knows when there will be a war. And after two weeks it happened. The second time, I met him in preparation for entering Gaza. I was very impressed with his leadership and motivation. He was a hero."
