The US website WARZONE reports on Saturday that during its visit next week, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will announce Operation Prosperity Keeper. According to a US military source, this is an international effort to deal with the threats posed by the Houthi militia in Yemen.
The report comes amid daily attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels on merchant ships in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait region, which have led the world's largest shipping companies to divert their ships from the Red Sea area. Because of this, the ships will have to circumnavigate the African continent on their way from the East to Europe and vice versa.
