Yarden Roman-Gat, who was released from Hamas captivity, was interviewed on the American program "60 Minutes": "As a woman, the fear of being raped or of other things they can do to you does not disappear from your mind. Because as long as you're there you're helpless, you have no protection. You can't resist it, because it could cost your life."
Yarden Roman (36) was abducted together with her husband Alon and their young daughter Geffen, aged three. They were put into a car by four armed terrorists along with another kibbutz member. A few meters before the border, a tank approached the vehicle, and the couple decided, very resourcefully, to jump and run away from it, and so they did.
Yarden Roman-Gat, one of the Israelis taken hostage by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attacks and held for nearly two months, shares her experience: "You're hopeless. You have no protection. You cannot object to anything, it could cost you your life."

When they fled, shots began, Geffen was in Jordan's hands and at that point she realizes that she won't be able to run fast enough with Geffen and she hands her over to Alon, saving her. Alon took Geffen, ran quickly and found a place to hide until in the morning, after a whole night in the field, he joined IDF forces.

At the last glance, he saw Jordan stop and put her hands on her head. Since the abduction, the family has had to deal with Geffen's questions about her mother – a mother who never hugged again. On November 29, they were finally reunited.
