Arab Knesset members sent Israeli President Isaac Herzog a request to help them vis-à-vis the military forces in order to stop firing on a Catholic church in Gaza.

Last Saturday, MK Aida Touma-Suleiman (Joint List) appealed to the president to help her stop our soldiers firing at the church in Gaza. According to her, in an incident that took place during the fighting in the Gaza Strip, innocent civilians fled to the religious compound where shots are being fired.
Addressing the president's residence, Suleiman claimed that "the army is besieging them" and that she wanted to allow civilians, women and children to leave for safety.

It turns out that this is not the first appeal by Arab MKs to President Herzog on this matter, since according to them, the government does not have an address or anyone who agrees to talk to them, and therefore they turn to the president.
On the other hand, those close to Herzog say that he obviously does not give instructions or orders and does not interfere in operational considerations, but only forwards the appeal to relevant bodies such as COGAT and security personnel.
