The Economy Committee approved today that owners of bicycles and electric scooters will be required to install license plates on the vehicles and register in the Licensing Authority's database – registration will begin on February 1, 2024 and the obligation to install license plates on the vehicles will begin on August 1, 2024.

Chairman David Bitan demanded that the Ministries of Transport, Justice and National Security accelerate the amendments intended to enable enforcement of the new regulations and publish a procedure for implementing the regulations, saying: "You have a maximum of three months to finish everything."

MK Yaakov Asher, who initiated a bill following which the regulations were submitted: When there is a license plate on the vehicle, people will behave differently and this will make it possible to purchase insurance in the future – enforcement powers should also be added to the inspectors as soon as possible.
