"Our Alex, the father of my children, the best father in the world," wrote Idan's mother, Polina. "How we waited for you to come home safe and sound, body and soul. How Idan waited for you to come back to celebrate the New Year with him. We didn't think you'd come back to us wrapped in an Israeli flag." His co-worker added: "He was the diamond and anchor of the bunch."
