The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, spoke by phone Tuesday night with US President Joe Biden, who initiated the call, to discuss the latest developments in Israel's fighting in Gaza.
Among other things, joint mediation efforts were made to calm the situation, which could escalate to other arenas, as well as attempts to reach a permanent ceasefire, according to a report by the Qatar State News Agency.

Qatar and Egypt mediated between Israel and Hamas in late November, during which Hamas released 110 women, children and foreigners it held in exchange for 240 terrorists released from Israeli jails.
