The impact of the war: an unusual increase in the number of deaths
The data show that during 2023, about 49,5 residents have died. The Central Bureau of Statistics attributes the unusual increase in the number of deaths between October 2023 and October 2022 to an iron sword war. However, the Central Bureau of Statistics notes that the number of deaths this year was lower than the number in 2022 (52,5) and their number in 2021 (50,7), years when there was a relatively high mortality rate due to the COVID-<> pandemic.
The rate of deaths, relative to population size, increased from 5.1 per 1,000 residents in 2019 to 5.4 per 1,000 residents in 2021 and 2022. The expected rate in 2023 is 5.1 per 1,000 residents.
