Investigators at the Kfar Saba police station opened an accelerated investigation upon receiving a complaint regarding suspicion of defrauding soldiers, their families and friends, and at first the officers examined ten complaints similar in characteristics, indicating that the suspect, a 20-year-old resident of Holon, posted on social networks that he is an importer of tactical combat equipment and can "obtain" such equipment for soldiers, including helmets, shoes, vests, bulletproof vests and more.

As the investigation developed, the officers were able to uncover the method of fraud and the offenses, including the transfer of money by the victims of the fraud – including soldiers currently fighting in the Gaza Strip – to the suspect, for equipment that was never provided.
