In recent weeks, McGurg has presented security officials with a plan that proposes a timeline of about 90 days after the Gaza war ends, arguing that stability in the devastated region could be shown if Palestinian, American, Israeli and Saudi officials embarked on a joint diplomatic effort prioritizing normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
His plan proposes using aid from Saudi Arabia and perhaps other Gulf states as an incentive to pressure the Palestinians and Israeli elements. In the plan's vision, Palestinian leaders would agree to form a new government in both Gaza and the West Bank, and would agree to reduce criticism of Israel, while Israel would have limited influence in Gaza.
