Car industry: Baden-Wuerttemberg wants state aid because of economic slowdown

In view of the economic slowdown, an alliance of employee and employer associations in Baden - Württemberg calls for more flexible offers for short - time working and qualification.

Thus, the maximum duration of short-time benefits can be extended from twelve to 24 months. The short-time allowance is paid by the Federal Employment Agency to avoid layoffs.

Union calls for action day

The letter is also signed by the bosses of the employers' association Südwestmetall, the engineering association VDMA and the trade union IG Metall, the president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as the managing director of Handwerkstages. The letter to salvation states: "We urge you to take up these points so that they can come into effect as soon as possible."

The IG Metall Baden-Württemberg has called for Friday to a day of action against the reduction of jobs in the auto and supplier industry. The union expects more than 10,000 participants on the Stuttgart Schlossplatz.
