At Veolia, "we focus on activities with the highest environmental stakes"

INTERVIEW - The CEO of Veolia will link executive compensation to objectives that will not be solely financial.


Antoine Frérot, CEO of Veolia, presents the company's new strategic plan, which marks the end of a solid year in 2019. Last year, turnover increased by 4.3% to 27.2 billion euros, driven three-quarters by organic growth. With an Ebitda (gross operating surplus) up 4.5% to 4.02 billion euros, and an increase in current net profit of 13.5% to 760 million euros.

LE FIGARO. - You concluded a four-year plan in 2019. What is your assessment?

Antoine FRÉROT.- With this plan, we wanted to demonstrate that Veolia was capable of developing profitable and significant growth in turnover, of 2 to 3% on average per year; of its Ebitda, between 4 and 5% per year; and its net profit, at + 10%. And that, with the same capital, that is to say at constant debt. The balance sheet of these four years is a turnover which increased on average by 3.6%, an Ebitda up by 4.6%, and a current net profit in increase
