After the time of acquisition, that of integration ... But not for everyone.
Aldi does not intend to keep the 545 Leader Price stores in its network.
The German discounter recognized this at the beginning of December, the day after the finalization of the buyout from the Casino group: some of the stores acquired are in head-on competition with Aldi, and have to be sold once again.
According to the CGT, the management of Aldi is preparing to close at least 31 stores.
The supernumerary points of sale are mainly located in the north and east of France, where Aldi has an already dense network.
It is indeed in these regions that the discounter set out to conquer France in 1988.
In the 31 closed stores mentioned by the CGT currently work 240 employees, which Aldi has undertaken to reclassify.
But these 31 stores are perhaps only part of the divestitures or closures that the distributor is planning.
