49,000 new jobs outside of agriculture: In the US, the unemployment rate continued to fall at the beginning of the year.
As announced by the Department of Labor in Washington, the proportion of unemployed fell in January compared to the previous month from 6.7 percent to 6.3 percent.
In the United States, the unemployment rate jumped to 14.7 percent in the wake of the corona pandemic, but gradually fell again in the following months.

Pace slows down
The pace of improvement has recently slowed down.
Analysts had expected significantly greater growth.
They assumed an average of 105,000 new jobs.
In addition, the development in December was even weaker than previously thought.
Accordingly, 227,000 jobs were lost at the end of the year.
Initially, 140,000 jobs were lost.
During the Corona crisis, employment collapsed at record speed in spring 2020.
Since then, the labor market has recovered significantly, but has recently weakened again.
