Pace slows down

The pace of improvement has recently slowed down.

Analysts had expected significantly greater growth.

They assumed an average of 105,000 new jobs.

In addition, the development in December was even weaker than previously thought.

Accordingly, 227,000 jobs were lost at the end of the year.

Initially, 140,000 jobs were lost.

During the Corona crisis, employment collapsed at record speed in spring 2020.

Since then, the labor market has recovered significantly, but has recently weakened again.
