Hydrogen at sea, the new frontier of renewables

DECRYPTION - European energy companies are in a hurry to experiment with the production of this gas at the foot of offshore wind turbines.


It's the combination of the two hottest topics in the energy world right now: offshore wind turbines and green hydrogen.

In recent months, the launches of experimental projects to produce this precious gas in an ecological way at sea, directly supplied by adjacent wind farms, have multiplied.

Six have been unveiled since February.

All the major energy companies on the continent make their announcements there, whether it is the Germans RWE, EnBW and Uniper, the oil companies Shell or Repsol.
