Today, the Ministry of Industry inaugurated a new production unit for the General Company for Ready-made Garments (Waseem) in Basindiana village in Jableh countryside, becoming the eleventh unit for it at the level of Syria and the sixth in the governorate.
The unit, which was inaugurated in cooperation between the Ministries of Industry, Social Affairs, Labor and Civil Activities, provides about 60 job opportunities in one shift for the families of the martyrs, the wounded, and those in need of work from the people of the village and its neighborhood.
The unit includes about 40 sewing machines and their complements of cutting and final packaging machines for the product, according to the Director General of Waseem Company, Yaroub Zureik, who explained to SANA reporter that the new production unit is an integrated laboratory that provides job opportunities and qualitative training on sewing professions within the government’s interest in supporting rural development.
Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh stressed the importance of production units in providing training and job opportunities for women with families of martyrs and wounded, which would help them improve their standard of living.
Sabbagh pointed out that the expansion of production units at the level of Syria's regions contributes to the high economic returns of Waseem Company and meets the requirements of its work and the contracts it implements.
For his part, the Governor of Lattakia, Amer Hilal, drew attention to ensuring that all requirements are met for the expansion of these production units to include the various regions of the governorate, because they have developmental and social dimensions, and to provide all facilities for the success of their work.
Haitham Ismail participated in the opening of the unit and meetings with workers and industrialists, Secretary of the Lattakia branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party.
In a related context, the Minister of Industry met with administrative and technical cadres and workers in the two spinning and weaving companies in Jableh and the Tobacco Factory, and heard from them about work conditions and requirements in order to identify obstacles to work in public industrial companies.
During his meeting with those in charge of a number of private industrial sector facilities spread in Lattakia, including facilities for the production of sanitary papers, textiles, iron, foodstuffs and juices, Minister Sabbagh noted that the ministry pays attention to the industrial production process that has recently revolved in Lattakia Governorate, which also received many industrialists who transferred their facilities there. Their insistence on standing by their country calls for holding meetings with industrialists on the ground, clarifying the aspects and needs of each sector and addressing any obstacles to work.
