Volkswagen boss reviews software projects

Oliver Blume wants to redesign the strategy in software and vehicle autonomy. The dedicated subsidiary has been a money pit.


After the successful IPO of Porsche, Oliver Blume arrived at the controls of Volkswagen in September, must prove himself on a much more complex file: the overhaul of the group's software strategy.

It was partly because of the failures of Cariad, the group's subsidiary in this area, that his predecessor Herbert Diess was sacked.

Billions of euros have been swallowed up by this entity of 5,000 developer engineers.

Also in the hot seat, Trinity, an electric and automated concept car presented in March 2021 by Herbert Diess.
