Ver.di is increasing the pressure in the collective bargaining strike for the public sector: Due to warning strikes, air traffic in Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf will probably come to a standstill in large parts on Monday.
Düsseldorf Airport expected almost 200 canceled take-offs and landings on Sunday.
Further flights will be diverted to other airports or postponed to the following day.

Cologne-Bonn and Düsseldorf airports: Ver.di is planning new warning strikes from Monday
Warning strikes should end on Tuesday night
In Cologne, it is assumed that 131 of the 136 scheduled passenger flights between Monday morning 6 a.m. and Tuesday morning 6 a.m. will be canceled.
Passengers were asked to check the current status of their flight with their airline or tour operator before their arrival.
In Düsseldorf, too, the warning strike should end on Tuesday night.
The trade unions Ver.di and Komba called for this.
The background to this is the negotiations for employees in the public sector at the federal and municipal level, as well as the nationwide negotiations for employees in aviation security.
"The employees put pressure on the respective employers with the strikes because no acceptable offer was made in the previous negotiations in the public sector," said Andrea Becker, regional department head of Ver.di NRW.
Düsseldorf Airport wants to maintain emergency operations
In Cologne, work was to be stopped late on Sunday evening.
The employees of aviation security were called first, said Ver.di Secretary Özay Tarim - i.e. employees in personnel and goods control as well as freight control.
"This will have a major impact on the entire handling of freight." Cologne Airport is an important hub for parcels from all over the world.
In any case, Düsseldorf Airport wants to maintain emergency operations.
There are corresponding agreements with the trade unions.
Last but not least, it is about ambulance and relief flights, it said.
In Cologne there had also been legal disputes between the airport and Ver.di over the past few days over the occupation of the important airport fire brigade.
In the end, both sides agreed that it must include 24 emergency workers during the warning strike.
In addition to the two most important airports in NRW, there should also be warning strikes in many other areas of public life in the state on Monday, such as on buses and light rail, in daycare centers and offices.
Several rallies are also planned.
