Renault Arcana in Israel: style for the masses
Importer Renault today began marketing the Arcana, a coupe-style crossover that under the unusual configuration also brings a first hybrid drive to the brand.

Crossover-Coupe, the same body configuration that combines the height of a crossover with a sloping fifth door, which started as a trend in the luxury market with the BMW X6, then expanded to the Mercedes GLE Coupe and from there to the Audi Q8 and then to their smaller brothers, is now coming to the market of popular brands More.
The first representative in Israel of this movement is Renault Arcana, which will try to wink at customers with this look and offer new and fashionable packaging for a segment that has already become the Israeli mainstream.
With an overall length of 457 cm, a width of 182 cm, a height of 157 cm and a wheelbase of 272 cm Renault Arcana offers very generous dimensions in relation to its category, ones that easily surpass tools such as the Toyota CHR (439 cm m in length and 264 in the wheelbase) Nissan Qashqai (443 and 267 respectively), close to the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and also challenging the Hyundai Tucson (450 cm in length and a wheelbase of 268 cm).
Due to its hybrid system, the 480 liter trunk is larger than the CHR's, but smaller than the other vehicles mentioned.
To its credit is the sloping fifth door that allows for a large loading key.

The Arcana drive is Renault's first entry into the world of hybrid cars.
The engine here, known as e tech, combines two electric motors (starter motor and electric motor) and a 1.6-liter atmospheric gasoline engine for a combined power of 143 hp. The combined torque figure is not published, but only the numbers for the electric motor which stands at 20.9 kg and the gasoline engine with 15.1 kgm. Performance is 10.8 seconds to 100 and 172 km/h maximum.
The gearbox in Arcana is a unique use for Renault-Nissan in a system that consists of a 4-speed gearbox for the gasoline engine and another gearbox with 2 gears for the electric engine, where another electric motor is also used as a clutch and serves as a connecting link between the gearbox and the engine.
It's a similar arrangement to what we've already seen in the hybrid Juke, but the name of the engine is Nissan's, here Renault's (although in the end, they're both part of the same alliance and this engine will serve the models of both companies).
According to the manufacturer, the 1.2 kWh battery is capable of powering the Arcana in electric mode for up to 80% of the driving time in the city, at a speed of up to 60 km/h and for a range of up to 3 km until the gasoline engine returns to power it.

The Arcana comes in three trim levels, ICONIC will be the entry version, the higher EDITION S and a third level that is identical to the EDITION S and adds a panoramic sunroof and is called the EDITION S SR.
The ICONIC's equipment list includes a 7-inch multimedia system with Android and Apple compatibility, electric parking brake, smart key, climate control and reverse air conditioning ports, a 7-inch digital dashboard, a 12V socket and two USB sockets in the back, tinted windows and more.
In the EDITION S trim level, the multimedia screen increases to 9.3 inches, driving mode control, wireless charging for mobile phones, a 10-inch dashboard, a combination of titanium finish in the passenger compartment and synthetic leather for the seats, externally the rims grow from 17 to 18 inches and additional and a colored element at the bottom of the door.
The safety systems include automatic braking, lane departure correction, reverse camera and adaptive cruise control.
In the high trim level, the cruise control also adds a traffic jam function, a vehicle warning in a "dead zone", a rear cross traffic warning and light control.
With the more comprehensive equipment package, the Arcana earned 5 stars in the European crash test with a 96% adult protection score.

Despite the dimensions that as mentioned "slide" into the higher categories, the starting price tag of the Arcana starts lower than theirs.
One of the reasons for this is the desire to target a conservative audience, that of the usual family members whose price ranges the Arcana fits, at least in the base version.
The ICONIC entry level version starts at NIS 150,000, NIS 5,000 less than the entry level versions of the Toyota CHR and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
The price of the EDITION S is NIS 160,000 and the version with the sunroof adds NIS 5,000 to the price.
The Arcana warranty will be 3 years for the entire vehicle including the hybrid system and 8 years for the batteries.
