Saint-Gobain relies on the decarbonisation of concrete

The French construction giant acquires an American specialist in building chemicals for 2 billion euros.


Decarbonizing cement and concrete, a profession full of the future?

For Saint-Gobain, of course.

On Monday, the French giant announced an agreement with the leaders of the American GCP Applied Technologies, and the upcoming launch of a takeover bid for the company.

An operation which represents an investment of 2 billion euros, which follows another carried out last May.

Saint-Gobain had bet 1 billion euros to take control of the French Chryso, which operates in the same field.

The French group was already present in building chemicals, through its Webber brand, which offers waterproofing and mortar solutions.

But thanks to these two major operations, Saint-Gobain will establish in a few months a leading position in this field, where it will realize more than 4 billion euros of turnover, through 272 factories in the world and a presence global.

Especially since there are small acquisitions made in recent months in Romania, Russia
