After a fatal knife attack in Ranstadt, Hesse, a 16-year-old was taken into custody.
A spokesman for the public prosecutor in Giessen said he was being investigated for manslaughter.
A 17-year-old who was also arrested at first was released because there was no longer any urgent suspicion against him.
The prosecution assumes that the 16-year-old attacked an 18-year-old with a knife in an argument on Wednesday evening at a school in Ranstadt.
The victim suffered upper body injuries and died shortly afterwards.
Apparently four participants in total
An arrest warrant was issued against the suspect youth on Thursday evening, the spokesman said.
A total of four young people are said to have participated in the dispute, as reported by the "Hessenschau" among others: apart from the two suspects and the victim, he was also an alleged friend of the stabbed man.
It is therefore unclear why the dispute arose.
Further details on the background to the incident are not yet known.
