France: kidnapping perpetrator arrested, no injuries

The man with a knife who yesterday afternoon had taken two women hostage in a shop in the 12th arrondissement of Paris was arrested: the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin announced on Twitter. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - PARIS, DEC 21 - The man armed with a knife who took two women hostage last afternoon in a shop in the 12th arrondissement of Paris has been arrested: Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin made it known on Twitter.

One of the women was released last night while the other was released this morning.

"The kidnapper has been arrested.


   There are no injuries. Thanks to @prefpolice agents and in particular to the BRI" (the special forces), tweeted the interior minister.

The man, a 56-year-old Tunisian, is "known to have mental problems," it was learned yesterday.
