"My leg has fallen asleep" is a popular and common way to describe a common condition in which a feeling of circumcision spreads in one of the limbs, whose medical name is paresthesia.

It is characterized by a tingling sensation when irritation or pressure interferes with the connection between the nerves in the limbs and the brain.

when is it happening?

When you sit or lie in a certain position for an extended period of time, especially if one of your legs is lying under the other leg or when your legs are blocked.

Usually it is not something worrying or harmful because the connection between the nerves and your brain is quickly regenerated after a posture change.

It can, however, cause a feeling of discomfort and sometimes even pain that lasts for a while, but will usually go away on its own within a few seconds or a few minutes.

Still, there are some things that can be done to speed up and "wake up" a dormant leg.

Shaking and rolling

Place the foot in a comfortable position, bend the toes several times. Move the ankle from side to side and back and forth. Perform a number of ankle rotations in both directions.

2. Change position

Change position so that nothing puts pressure or weight on the sleeping leg. If you were sitting in a leg brace, open the brace. If one of the legs rests under the other, take it out from under it and straighten it. Gently and slowly move to a more comfortable position and simply wait calmly until the sensation in the dormant organ is renewed.

3. Walk

Do not put all your weight when standing or walking on the sleeping leg, but rely on the other leg, and slowly take a few small, slow steps. When it starts to feel more comfortable, walk a little for a few minutes.

4.Massage

A foot massage can help renew and increase blood flow to the feet and wake up the dormant foot faster.

A 2020 study found that foot massage was able to reduce pain associated with peripheral neuropathy in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The massage is recommended to be performed in circular motions in the area where you feel pain or tingling.

The massage will increase blood flow and at the same time stimulate the nerves and muscles in place.

5. Pay attention to your feet

Are you wearing uncomfortable shoes or squeezing?

Loosen the laces or remove the shoes for a few minutes.

Pressure socks, which some people use on a daily basis to treat all kinds of medical conditions, can also cause a blockage of the nerves and anesthesia of the legs.

6. Practice Yoga

There are some basic yoga poses that improve blood circulation in the body in general and the legs in particular.

In them: dog looking down, triangle position, warrior 2. Try them.

7. Warm the place

A warm pillow or a bottle of hot water can be placed on the sleeping leg.

The heat will calm you down, reduce the feeling of discomfort and improve blood circulation.

You can also soak your feet in a bath of warm water.
