(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 07 - Martina Brachetti, pastry chef in Basilicata, Alessandro Petito, owner of the bistro that bears his name in Castellanza (Varese), and Jacopo Zorzi, originally from Veneto and Milanese by adoption: they are the ones who make up the new Team Italia who will take the field to win the 2023 World Pastry Championship (Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie), which will be held on January 20-21 on the stage of Sirha, in Lyon (France).
Italy is back in the race after the victory of 2021.
The tricolor team, for the final of January 2023, was formed with the selections of last April 2 which took place in Brescia in the Cast Alimenti laboratories (school of gastronomic crafts founded by Masters Iginio Massari and Vittorio Santoro), operational headquarters of the Club Italia in April 2000 with the aim of selecting,
prepare and accompany the Italian team and delegation to the world pastry championship.
Competing for a place to represent Italy in Lyon were six competitors who challenged each other with plays and desserts.
The selectors were Alessandro Dalmasso, president of Club Italia and the reigning world champions Lorenzo Puca, Andrea Restuccia, Massimo Pica and one of the three coaches of the team, as well as 2015 world champion, Francesco Boccia.
The race has also selected two reserves that will be part of the team: Carmen Peluso and Daniele Mascia.
