As part of a cell phone network test, experts check the status quo of network providers.

Who offers the best network in Germany?

Which operator scores in the country, who in the city?

And which provider has the best cell phone network in Munich?

Munich – Hardly anyone spends the day without their smartphone.

With this technical marvel, people don't just make phone calls.

They chat, surf the web, listen to music, write emails, use streaming services and much more.

A stable mobile network is always important - which hardly exists in some areas.

The so-called white spots predominate.

An annoyance that Germany's network operators have been wanting to change for years.

Best mobile phone network - what is the current situation with the supply of 5G?

The computer magazine

used

NET Check

to examine the quality of the networks of O2, Telekom and Vodafone.

The expansion of 5G technology continues as planned and the tariffs for mobile phone customers remain largely stable, writes the computer magazine.

The three network operators say they are more than satisfied with their progress in 5G expansion.

Providers O2 and Vodafone report that they have reached their expansion targets for 2022 ahead of time.

They could cover 75 percent of the population with 5G.

Telekom even claims that 92 percent of households will be supplied.

Best cell phone network - first place gets a grade of 1.1 for 5G

The most comprehensive mobile phone test in Germany is intended to show what the usability of the networks looks like in everyday life.

"The current measurements underline the result of last year," writes the computer magazine.

"Telekom has a head start in the 5G expansion and wins both the test overall and the 5G rating." The former state-owned company received a school grade of 1.3 in the overall rating.

In the 5G ranking there would even be a grade of 1.1.

Vodafone came in second with an overall rating of 1.4.

In the 5G ranking, Vodafone is a little further behind with a 1.4.

The Red Lantern carries O2.

In the overall rating, the network operator gets a 1.7.

The Telefónica subsidiary got a 1.5 in the 5G ranking.

"These ratings alone suggest that the 5G expansion for the O2 network represents an opportunity to break away from last place in our network test and catch up with Vodafone in the future," sums

Best cell phone network in Germany - in which city did Telekom win?

"We want to hope that the number 13 does not bring bad luck, because Telekom has won our network test for the thirteenth time in a row," writes the specialist magazine.

With an overall rating of 1.3, the Magenta Group confidently qualifies as Germany's premium network.

Telekom leads in almost all disciplines: it has the best network for making calls and surfing and is ahead in terms of availability.

She also wins the long-distance trains sub-rating and the 5G ranking.

However, according to a report by the Federal Network Agency, not all tunnels have full network coverage in tunnels.

In the special evaluation for major cities, Telekom scored four out of five possible victories: in Munich, in Berlin, in Hamburg and in Cologne.

Only in Frankfurt does she have to give way to Vodafone.

Best cell phone network in Germany - rural areas are growing

In order to determine the availability of the networks in the area, the testers had to put in a lot of effort.

Over a 12-week period, they collected over 3.6 billion cell phone data from nearly 2.5 million devices.

Users made these available in accordance with the general conditions of the GDPR.

The availability of the networks was analyzed over an area of more than 235,000 square kilometers.

Compared to last year, O2 has grown in rural areas, increasing LTE coverage to 96.75 percent of the covered area.

This puts the Telefónica subsidiary just behind Vodafone (97.56 percent) and Telekom (98.74 percent).

"We see little progress in the availability of high-speed LTE with a very good signal quality," write the examiners.

In the cities, the rates are high at 96 and 99 percent.

In rural areas, however, they stagnate at around 90 percent for O2 and 91.67 percent for Vodafone.

Telekom comes to 95.75 percent.
