Customs inspects more than 10 million yuan fake cosmetics and skincare products

Customs officers carried out a special operation against counterfeit drugs in the previous (10) days. During the operation, about 2.4 million tablets, about 470 liters of suspected counterfeit drugs, and about 3,200 suspected counterfeit cosmetics and skin care products were seized, with a total market value of about 13.7 million yuan. Is the largest case of the same type cracked in the past decade. Seven men were arrested in the case.

Customs officers carried out a special operation against counterfeit drugs in the previous (10) days. During the operation, about 2.4 million tablets, about 470 liters of suspected counterfeit drugs, and about 3,200 suspected counterfeit cosmetics and skin care products were seized, with a total market value of about 13.7 million yuan. The Customs Copyright and Trademark Investigation and General Investigation Team on Copyright and Trademarks will hold a press conference tomorrow to explain the details of the operation.

According to the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, it is an offence for anyone to import or export counterfeit goods. Once convicted, they can be fined up to 500,000 yuan and imprisoned for 5 years. Members of the public can call the Customs 24-hour hotline 2545 6182 or report suspected counterfeiting activities through a crime reporting email account (crimereport@customs.gov.hk).
