Borders are a clean sweep… The recent wave of arrests in anarchist circles in Italy, France and Spain illustrates European cooperation, relying in particular on the European arrest warrant, and the existence of cross-border networks of action and solidarity of the ultra-left. This explains why an Italian anarchist was extradited by France to Italy on July 28, while another activist, a French woman arrested in France on the 26th, could be in August.
It all started on June 12 when the Italian, French and Spanish police arrested seven Italian nationals in their thirties: five in Rome, one in Almeria (Andalusia) and one in Saint-Etienne (Loire). In these last two cases, France and Spain executed two European arrest warrants issued by the Italian justice.
