It was consumers, or "food
watchers
" in the jargon of the association, who sounded the alarm, according to its press release.
“
In the organization's mailbox, there were quite a few exasperated photos and messages showing tiny amounts of food packed in disproportionately large packages
,” she says.
After several complaints, she decided to go “
check in the supermarket
”.
Seven brands are targeted by this petition: “
Lipton (43% empty), Léa Nature (58%), Sojasun (34%), Monoprix (35%), Barilla (60%), Carrefour (50%) and Leclerc ( 68%).
"A list that is likely to evolve if new products are pinned, warns Foodwatch.
"It's a double rant"
The association for the defense of consumers denounces not only "
packaging that is far too large
", and which consequently "
dangles a
greater quantity of food
than that actually present in the packages
", but also an "
aberration for the environment.
".

Via its petition, foodwatch calls on brands to “
commit to reducing the use and
size of packaging
for their products
to the absolute minimum
”, but also manufacturers to stop selling “
unnecessarily large packaging
”.
