The new "Policy Address" mentions that the Housing Authority has decided to empty the Shek Lei transit housing by the end of 2022, and the land will be used for public housing development.
The Transport and Housing Bureau today (26th) submitted a document to the Housing Affairs Committee of the Legislative Council to initially assess the impact of 329 households. They can be directly relocated to public housing units, allocated public housing units before the clearing date, or relocated to villages. Everyone in the Menbaotian transit house is given a relocation allowance.

The government initially assessed that 329 households were affected. Among them, 103 households were exempted from the "Comprehensive Means Test" when they moved into the Shek Lei Interim Housing according to the policy at the time. 147 households eligible for early allocation of public housing units under the "Advance Housing Plan" of the People’s Republic of China will be allocated public housing units before the clearing date, up to 12 months in advance; the remaining 79 households will be resettled in Po Tin, Tuen Mun houses.
All households affected by the demolition of Shek Lei’s transit houses will receive household relocation allowances ranging from 10,270 yuan to 30,600 yuan to help them pay for part of the relocation costs.
The government also pointed out that the area of the 1-person and 2-person units of the Shili Interim House is relatively larger than the units of the Baotian Interim House, and that households moving to the Baotian Interim House will be allowed to live in units of similar size.
Eligible single persons and two-person households can choose to receive a single person allowance or a two-person family allowance of RMB 79,310 and RMB 96,180 respectively, instead of public housing or transit housing allocation.
Residents who have been allocated public housing can enjoy the green form and priority to purchase HOS housing before the Shek Lei transit housing is emptied.
