Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Kosovo Foreign Minister Melissa Hardinai today (Monday) signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This was the first time an agreement was signed to establish relations between countries in a virtual ceremony using the zoom.
In addition to the document establishing the relationship, the two foreign ministers signed memoranda of understanding for policy consultations and an agreement for cooperation in the fields of international aid.
Prior to the ceremony, the two held a conversation during which Kosovo's foreign minister stressed her commitment to pass a resolution defining Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
As part of the ceremony, Foreign Minister Ashkenazi also unveiled the sign of the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem, which is expected to open in a few weeks.
The virtual ceremony was also attended by Matthew Palmer, the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, and the US Ambassador to Israel.

The establishment of relations between Israel and Kosovo and the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem are part of the economic normalization agreement that the Trump administration reached between Serbia and Kosovo a few months ago.
"I thank the United States for its efforts to promote world peace, and to promote Israel's relations with countries that until recently we did not have strong diplomatic relations with," Ashkenazi said at the ceremony.
"Israel wants to see a stable Balkans," the foreign minister added.
"If there is a will on both sides, we will be happy to take part in the effort to build trust-building means together with Kosovo and Serbia, under the auspices of the United States."
